On the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II, students of the Department of International Relations of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University joined a requiem rally, which took place in a place that has become a symbol of dignity, resilience, and indomitability of the Ukrainian spirit — the “Gallery of Honor and Memory”.
Representatives of different generations, including scientists and students, joined the ceremony. Also standing side by side with them were real heroes of our time: a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, a first-year student at the Faculty of Chemistry, Konstantin Kursov, and Senior Lieutenant Serhiy Shamatryn, who is also the coach of the DNU judo team and has raised more than one generation of strong-willed athletes.
"Since 2014, our country has been in a permanent situation, when the Russian Federation has been spreading its aggression, and in the end it manifested itself in 2022 in its extreme form, when open war began. Among our colleagues today are those people who are currently fighting. There is Associate Professor Volodymyr Aleksandrovich Perminov, who voluntarily went to fight for 2 years, as he has been at the front. I want to say that this is far from the end of the war, and we still have a lot to endure. Now, more than ever, we must unite and do everything for our future," said the Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Head of the Department of International Relations, Professor Igor Ishchenko.
On such days, we especially understand that it is the past that shapes our resilience, and the future requires daily courage and strong unity.
